I can see how this film might work for some people because it has a talented cast, but I just felt it was a bit disjointed and incomplete. I'm still glad they made a film about this side of America that is usually not presented in Hollywood.

She has little screen time and is underused. I'm a huge fan of Chloe Grace Moretz and I have seen most of her films, but her character doesn't do much in this story either. None of the characters were developed too well and the film basically focused on the police procedural that began promising but got off track really quick by presenting two disjointed story lines.

We are introduced to his fixation taking into account female hairdressers which began at a young people age. The film uses flashbacks throughout and there are frequent parallels drawn considering the adding occurring.

This film is an artistic, sensitive, and very sensual portrayal of two people who fall in love. Part of the joy is watching their clearly-etched characters mesh and blend. This is done so well that no one could believe they are lovers off screen. We ride along with them, and remember our feelings of longing for love, realizing love, and finally, hoping never to lose it. Some people are disappointed with the end, though for anyone who has ever been in love and finds that passion, completely realized, has no where to go but into sadness and loss, this movie works.

The plot is typically loose, silly and predictable, a narrow-sighted exercise on the same level as Mr. Mom or Stir Crazy, but still manages to slip in a few biting observations about the period's culture. Most of which are validated by Murray's deliciously sardonic delivery. Costars Geena Davis and Randy Quaid are often just along for the ride, though, delivering bad lines with all the subtlety of a brick to the face, and nobody ever seems to take their predicament terribly seriously.

However they still try to help out while working on their case. Mike's clues lead him to investigate two local criminals (one of them played by Jason Clarke), while Brian is more focused on finding the serial killer in the dangerous Killing Fields. Both investigations really caught my attention, but unfortunately one of them was kind of left out and forgotten at the end leaving me feeling a bit disappointed. The two main actors give solid performances, but their characters share the typical cliches found in other buddy cop films. Chastain is a seriously talented actress, but unfortunately her character didn't have much to work with.

Ami Canaan Mann, Michael Mann's daughter, failed to dig deeper into the storyline and the result was a sort of disjointed film. I still enjoyed the film for the atmosphere and suspense it was creating, but the two different story lines never seemed to be fully developed and I couldn't help but feel that something was left out in the editing floor. She also encounters a stray dog Tramp who tells her that soon things will be taking a turn for the worse, as all the focus will soon be on the baby and not on her. The baby is soon born, and Aunt Sarah comes to watch the baby. This is where the movie really takes a turn. Lady is confronted with two devilish Siamese cats named Si and Am, and a vicious rat that enters the baby's room, and is forced to wear a muzzle. Between these events she is thrown out of the house, and eventually runs away to roam the streets with Tramp. With Tramp, she learns the lower-class side of being a dog, where you have to find your own food, fight off other stray dogs, and deal with the being locked up in the pound. Lady and the Tramp may be the best film for encapsulating the various struggles that a dog may go through.

The parallel between Lady being a high-class dog, and Tramp being a stray was quite enjoyable. Trusty and Jock were excellent side characters. Lady and the Tramp does not particularly have a stand out soundtrack, or even a compelling villain. Despite this, the film has tons of character and some excellent scenes which of course include the iconic spaghetti eating scene. Texas Killing Fields had the potential to be one of those rare and memorable suspense thrillers that actually work; it had a strong cast, the cinematography was beautifully executed by Stuart Dryburgh creating a depressing atmosphere fitting the tone of the story, and an interesting premise.
