Something went wrong on our end. Please try again later. The new SAPCAR utility can work with both formats (.CAR &.SAR). The older version CAR can only decompress.CAR files. So, it is advisable to switch - even in older releases - to the newer toolkit named SAPCAR, because SAP sometimes delivers even for older releases SAR Files already. SAPCAR (CAR) - the ZIP-Utility of SAP - How does it work? SAPCAR (older version was called CAR) is a compress utility (similar to winzip, tar, etc.), that is used by SAP to compress and decompress nearly all delivered files.

I just thought that sometimes it is good to list all the files and extract the ones you need. The other problem is when you download a ton of SARs, and you want to extract them all. It is easy with.BAT (NT), and.SH (NIX) files, but most people don’t know how to write them. Perhaps I should publish some examples to help others. Anyway, thanks for your comment. Thanks for your feedback. The.PAT is a SAP extension for files concerning upgrading your SAP system. They are uploaded either in SPAM, SAINT or other transaction, I am not sure exactly what is K-747AHINBICONT.SAR, perhaps a BI component. Usually you don’t have to extract theese files, after using SPAM/SAINT the SAP system extracts them itself.

Hi, We are facing serious issue in extracting SAP Business Objects 4.2 SP4 AIX Setup, downloaded from SAP Marketplace, we tried to extract many ways (also suggested by SAP support engineer) but still getting same error as Attached (screen print) setup is corrupted. We contacted SAP helpdesk, Support engineer also tried to extract but failed and he confirmed in the mail that he is also facing same issue, couldn't do further help.
Compressed archive (SAR) SAR is a file extension for an file used with business systems. SAR files contain compressed versions of delivered files and used by the SAP. SAR files can be opened by the SAPCAR compression. SAPCAR is a utility. The prior version of SAPCAR was called CAR, and created CAR files. SAR files are the result of changes in the SAP CRM which required changes to the compression that was used, hence the introduction of SAPCAR.
Extract the library to a directory on your machine. This guide uses /usr/sap/nwrfcsdk (on Linux) or C: nwrfcsdk (on Windows) as the default path. You are free to choose another directory.
For example, to unzip the streaming client package: sapcar -xvf streaming_client_1.0.120.00_winx64.sar 5. In the SAP_HANA_STUDIO directory, run hdbsetup.exe.
